About the board and the material.
Does Lautio really survive the dishwasher?
Yes. Lautio is made of Accoya® wood, which absorbs far less moisture than ordinary wood and therefore does not crack or warp in the wash. Wash on a normal cycle and stand the board upright to dry.
Is there any plastic or coating in the board?
No. Lautio is solid wood without coatings. The Accoya treatment happens inside the wood, not on its surface, so the board is the same material in the cut surfaces and knife marks too.
Is Accoya safe with food?
The Accoya treatment adds acetyl groups to the wood’s cells – groups that all wood contains by nature. No toxic substances are used in the process, and the board has no coating or impregnation. Lautio is wood all the way through.
Which size is right for me?
Small (195 × 195 mm) for breakfasts, cheese and small jobs. Medium (295 × 195 mm) for everyday cooking – the most popular. Large (395 × 195 mm) for bigger portions, bread and serving. All are 195 mm deep and 8 mm thick, so they store together easily.
Does the board dull my knife?
No. Wood is gentler on the edge than glass, stone or hard plastic, and a knife stays sharp longer.
Does the board need oiling?
Not necessarily. If you like, oil it with food-grade mineral oil or cutting-board oil a few times a year – it deepens the tone of the wood. See the care guide.
The board has bowed slightly. What do I do?
Wood is a natural material and can bow slightly when wet. Lay the board on a flat surface with the curved side up. It usually returns to shape as it dries.
Where is Lautio made?
The boards are handmade in the Steinnes Tre AS workshop on the island of Finnøy, on Norway’s west coast. The warehouse and the deliveries are in Finland.
How fast is my order delivered?
Once the shop opens, an order placed before 14:00 on a weekday leaves our warehouse in Finland the same day. In Finland it usually arrives the next working day. You get a tracking code by email as soon as the parcel leaves the warehouse.
What does delivery cost?
Delivery 5.90 €. Orders over 59 € ship free.
How is the parcel delivered?
Your order is packed and sent from our warehouse in Finland. You get a tracking code by email when the parcel leaves the warehouse, so you can follow it the rest of the way. We deliver within Finland.
Can I return the board?
Yes. You have a 14-day right of return from the day you receive the product. Tell us by email and you get instructions. The returned product must be unused and in its original condition. See Delivery and returns.
What if the product is damaged or faulty?
Contact us right away, preferably with a photo. We replace the product or refund it in full, return costs included.
How can I pay?
At checkout you see all available payment methods. Payment happens over a secure connection, and we never see or store your card details.
